Sandy Point Beach House is a casual fine dining restaurant featuring gourmet burgers and a market driven rotating feature menu. These features will showcase Chefs ingredient focused fusion cuisine that the lake shore knows and loves. The beach house atmosphere is best described as modern Chicago loft space meets lake-shore cottage.

We are looking for servers to join our talented team! 

Summary:

Provide attentive and hospitable service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests. Work sincerely and effectively with the rest of the restaurant's employees in order to create a successful whole-house team.                                                    

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •   Warmly welcome and greet guests. Introduce yourself to the guests you're directly taking care of. Make all our guests feel comfortable and appreciated.
  •   Inquire if guests are celebrating anything or are first-time diners.
  •   Inquire if guests have food allergies or dietary restrictions.
  •   Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
  •   Be aware of food and beverage availability changes throughout the shift and accurately communicate those to other team members and guests.
  •   Make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
  •   Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
  •   Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar.
  •   Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matter following restaurant guidelines.
  •   Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.
  •   Perform running side work as stated or instructed by manager-on-duty.
  •   Maintain clean service areas.
  •   Help maintain cleanliness of all dining areas, entryways and bathrooms.
  •   Monitor and observe guests dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
  •   Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or make change (if applicable).
  •   Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers and other staff members throughout the entire shift.
  •   Be ready and willing to assist support staff with clearing and resetting tables.
  •   Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
  •   Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
  •   Required to attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
  •   Promptly report all guest and staff issues to the manager-on-duty.
  •   All other responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  •   Be able to communicate respectfully and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
  •   Must have a basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
  •   Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
  •   Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
  •   Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds.
  •   Be able to occasionally lift boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.
